Dick’s prime role as GISI’s Chairman is to cause the fulfillment of the GISI model for partner companies’ successful ownership transitions and growth. Ensuring partner firms will have the opportunity to build on their legacies to achieve their full potential. This enables partner firms to capitalize on Dick’s merger model and track record, along with his global relationships.
By focusing on the core value of the successful enterprises he has created, Dick has established a unique formula for embracing merger partners for who and what they are and encouraging them to build on their best practices and cultures, not change them.
Prior to founding GISI, Dick Newman was the founder of AECOM, the world’s largest global multi-disciplined professional, technical and construction services company. There, he served as chairman, president and CEO through 2000, chairman and CEO until 2005, executive chairman until 2011, and chairman emeritus and a member of the board until 2015. Previously, he was president and director of Ashland Technology; president of Daniel Mann Johnson & Mendenhall (DMJM); and chairman and CEO of Genge, Inc., one of the early, publicly traded A&E companies.
Dick has served on several boards affiliated with Capital Group, including having been the chairman of Capital Group’s Private Client Services Board. In addition to AECOM and Genge, he has also been a director of Sempra Energy Company and Southwest Water Company.
